Volcano boarding.

Today we did volcano boarding in Leon. What is this you may ask? It's basically sliding down an active volcano on a makeshift sled made out of a plastic pipe, sheer metal, ply wood, and a 2x4. As we walked about the volcano we were experiencing 70mph winds with even higher gusts we all felt like we were gonna fall down and lose our edge. Scary! I have tons of pictures and video for this one.

There was also a point where u can touch a portion of the volcano to feel the natural temperature heat up , a pretty cool experience . We slid down around sunset and we are in the back of a truck now going back to the hostel. Our tour guide was talking a lot of smack about how good he is at volcano boarding. Sure enough he wiped out at the end and I got it on my gopro .

We leave tomorrow at 1pm to Miami for New Year's Eve.

Tree house

Last night we went to a full moon party in a tree house 30 min outside of Grenada. Getting there was like The Beach the movie, you needed to walk in the middle of no where through a soccer field, a farm, bamboo field etc. The party was not far from epic . Also, there were So many Monkeys in the trees it was pretty awesome . Took a ton or pictures . This AM we woke up and took a cab to Leon. We are here for 2 nights. Currently a cat is eating Steve's panini.

We are going volcano boarding tomorrow afternoon . Staying at a hostel called Big Foot.

Good times ahead

Monkey on a boat

Today we took a little boat excursion around the islands of Grenada and a monkey came into our boat. Steve fed the monkey and we saw some private villages with Nicaraguan families living there year round . I started feeling better as the afternoon went on. Tyler met us around 5pm for dinner and drinks. We tried goin out but the night life kind of sucks here.

In other news I was propositioned by a Nicaraguan prostitute for $30. I gracefully declined.

Tomorrow we are going to go to a hostel called the Tree House where they have a full moon party of their own. not really as cray as the Thailand one but we haven't seen too many parties here since our trip started so anything is better than what we have seen so far .

Sulfur dioxide doesn't sit well

We had an awesome tour of the masaya volcano yesterday which included a tour of a lava cave, a look inside the craters that have sulfer dioxide smoke consistently coming out. The wind always blows one way so that it's easy to see without inhaling the gases or they provide gas masks to help filter the smoke . In the lava cave, our tour guide gave us an up-close look at some bats, I Should do work for discovery channel, my photo skills and video skills are ridic .

At the end of the tour it's dark enough that when you look into the crater at Masaya you can actually see lava .

We got to the point where you can look on and all of the sulfur dioxide gases started comin in our direction and we all couldn't breath and covering out mouths with our shirts. We only had time for a quick few seconds to see the lava bc the gasses were too intense. We felt a little headache after but we are all fine now. Except I am starting to feel a little sick today like a bug, I need Pepto , it wouldn't be a overseas trip without this experience obv.

Last night we tried goin out after dinner I wasn't feeling so hot after so that's when the Pepto comes in. We went out anyway and we found a karaoke bar with all locals .

I had to sing BesaMe Mucho for novelty sake but they immediately switched it up to the English version after they realized I don't know the full tune without background music.

Today we are doin a tour of the small islands around Grenada where we will be interacting with monkeys and touring some local villages.

Monkey see monkey do.

10 hour hike- volcano Maderas

It was 1,394 meters from ground to peak and 6km walking up from starting point.

We left at 8am, it took about 4.15 hours to get up to the top , we hired a guide for 15 dollar who spoke zero English and brought his dog named Big Boy. Me and Wolff went, Steve stayed back . I fell 5 times along the way. Win. After the first hour of track it begins to get really muddy which he didn't prepare for. At the very top it looked like a river in a forest which was surrounded by large rocks and trees 360 degrees around. We are basically inside the volcano , obviously inactive but still Pretty cool for Xmas day. There was a section where if you put your feet into the mud near the lake you instantly sink down to your knees. I had the gopro camera with me so we used it for most of the trek up and then put it on Big Boy and he was running around a bit. It took like forever to get back down, about 4.5 hours . My palms were sweaty , knees weak, arms heavy. Mom's spaghetti

No icecream for Steve today

1st day on the trip Steve didn't have Ice cream.

We are now in ometepe Nicaragua and there is absolutely nothing going on at 745pm. We are going to hike up the volcano tomorrow at 7am, 8 hour hike and about 1300 Meters in height. It's called volcano Maderas . The active volcano is called Conception . It is very quiet here but the scenery is really nice w the volcanos. Prices here are about 2-3 dollars a meal and It was about 8-10 in Costa Rica just to put things into perspective.

We needed to take a cab at 7am from tamarindo to the border . It was so shady crossing. I have some cool videos of it but Wolff almost wasn't allowed over bc his passport is goin to expire in 6 months.

Once we got over we had a 19 year old taxi driver take us to a place called Little Morgan's , previously on dateline NBC's To Catch a Predator. Actually it was a cool hostel we heard about through this Ozzie girl from tamarindo we met. Once we arrived we saw a little "closed" sign, kind of like a seen out of Wally's World. We needed to pull an audible after 7 hours of traveling and drive up the road to another place recommended by the place that was closed. We called them up and they said they were full but they recommended another place down the road called Hotel Istiam.

So humid is here , but excited for our hike tomorrow for Christmas Day.

Booze cruise?

The booze cruise ? More like snooze you lose . Full of families and little children. It was like take your child to boat day. So lame but it was a nice day so that's good. Tamarindo kind of sucks its a big tourist trap. We had fun but never again. It's all families but I did get to surf for a few days

Nicaragua tomorrow am. Brace yourself

Sunday funday

Today is not your typical Sunday funday. Instead we will be boozing it up on a catamaran with a church group . Today is also my championship game in fantasy football. I need to set up my line up

Surfing and relaxing

Today was a pretty chill day in montezuma . Woke up at 7am chilled out on the beach for a bit and took a surf lesson with Wolff at 10 am. Steve took pics. It was a 30 min hike to the beach for surfing which was no walk on the park. Waves were meh for learning so we got half off. Hopefully tamarindo will be better. On our way back from surfing we acquired a dog and called it Bosco. Steve insisted we call her a Spanish name. We lost the dog mid way bc she found her other dog friends along the way when we made a pit stop

Rest of the day we chilled on our hammocks and now getting dinner.

Off to tamarindo tomorrow am. This place is extremely relaxing and highly recommended for people that want to get away for 2 nights and just want peaceful scenery and relaxing environment with a hippy atmosphere

I love montezuma's revenge

We went on a death boat to montezuma this afternoon from Jaco. Steve almost went into shock from being nauseous and not vomiting bc he didn't take the Dramamine in time . I went through the same exact thing in Thailand except this time I got it on tape. He is ok now but was out of commission for most of the day

Montezuma is so relaxing . We have a hotel right on the beach and hammocks.

Wolff and I did a extreme hike today to a waterfall just before dusk. Never again. It was my Least favorite activity yet , but the waterfalls were cool , it's a must see

We made a lot of friends here, on the boat we found some people and then we joined a random camp fire around 7 pm with 14 strangers. Had pizza for dinner and now about to go to the one bar in town

Montezuma

Btw we are all sleeping on slabs of concrete for our beds. It's 730am and guy next door is screaming a conversation on his phone. I walk over and knock, ask him to keep it down. He response by saying its morning . The end

On our way to montezuma with a pit stop in Jaco . Taking a cray boat across the ocean and its pouring out now.
I will take Dramamine

White water rafting

Today we went white water rafting down el Samuel Dominico river and just got back an hour ago. We are wiped. Rapids were level 3. He used my gopro camera for some first person videos so looking forward to seeing how that came out.

We just heard an explosion at 341pm. And we all lost Internet / wifi. I think we just lost power now that we realize AC is off. We are all chilling in our room right now

This blog is legit

Steve is a little bitch

Also Steve got mad At the girl in our raft bc she hit him with her oar in the face and balls a few times when goin down the rapids.

I passed out in the car on the way home and Steve managed to put a colores coin in mouth as I slept w my mouth open.
He went to the plane bar and met some backpackers from Colorado and then went to get drinks and another bar tonight.

Manuel Antonio National Park , sunset, and sluts

Woke up at 630 am this morning trying to make it before all the tourists flooded the park. It took for ever for the waiter to make our continental breakfast ie toast and marmalade. We got to the park early but people were already starting to get there and it was 730. We saw awesome spider monkeys , 1 sloth, a bunch if iguanas , large ones and hiked about 3 hours and got back to the beach . We ran into our hostel "house mother " that was goin back home to Okc tomorrow so she chilled with us, watched the sunset and drank imperial beers on a beach , definitely beats a Sunday funday. We then went to a new thai place that opened for sunset specials 2 for 1 drinks. She had her friend come meet us. We had an interesting conversation / debate on gun laws In America. We then came back to book out excursions for tomorrow. Steve and I are doin white water rafting and Erik is doing canyoning .

Steve asked the receptions if there was any place near by that we can hold, touch and play with sloths. The guy immediately provided a quick "yes" and said it was right down the road, named a bar and said they were there . Also mentioned we would see them depending on the light and we would have to pay some money. Steve was extremely excited as its been his top priority. He was like ok let's drop everything to go to this place. We found it a little bizarre that they are at a bar but we heard a similar tip from a previous conversation . We then realized the guy thought Steve said "sluts" not "sloths" . Language barrier in full effect. Steve wants to hold , touch and play with sluts.

Good night

Day 1 - locked up abroad

We started this am at 930 take off. Babies were crying and screaming on the plane. Steve was freaking out. He also attempted to smuggle chicken schnitzel across the border from US of A to Costa Rica. He was successful and has been chipping away at it since we got here.

Right when we got off the flight we were picked up by our private taxi and taken to a large field... The end

Actually we are still in the cab/van we are Driving about 4 hours to Manuel Antonio where we will stay for 2-3 days depending on the activities. We stopped at an awesome restaurant along the way and shared lunch with our cab driver and his friend . The restaurant was outdoor seating no walls and had a bird sanctuary in the back where we took pictures of tucans and peacocks and one monkey .

On the way to Manuel Antonio now and well be there in about 1 hour. It gets dark early here, same as nyc

Test

Eating lunch at restaurant w our cab driver
